Ultimate Layer Brownie Bar

Have you ever tasted something so rich, so sweet, so decadent, so downright good that you know you should only have a few bites, but you can't find the willpower to make yourself stop eating it? These Ultimate Layer Brownie Bars will have that affect on you.

I love combining flavors from different desserts to make one over-the-top dessert. I've tried a ton of different combinations, including cookie dough and Oreos, but why I never thought to combine brownies, Oreos, and chocolate chip cookie dough is a mystery. After I saw this recipe, a little light bulb went off. Kudos to Kevin and Amanda for thinking of this combination of ingredients and sharing it with us!

There is no question about it-combining brownie batter, Oreos, and chocolate chip cookie dough into one bar will knock your socks off. Definitely give these divine and addicting-ly delicious bars a try!

Ultimate Layer Brownie Bar (adapted from Kevin & Amanda)
(20-25 bars)

1 box brownie mix (plus ingredients to make brownies)
1 package regular Oreos
1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
1 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup light brown sugar, packed
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
12 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Prepare a 9x13 inch baking pan by lining it with parchment paper and lightly spraying the parchment paper with cooking spray.

In the bowl of an electric mixer, cream butter and both sugars. Cream for 3-4 minutes, or until very light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, mixing after each addition. Add vanilla extract and mix until well incorporated. Add flour, baking soda, and salt and mix until just incorporated, careful not to over mix. Fold in chocolate chips.

Spoon cookie dough into prepared baking dish. Spread cookie dough evenly to cover bottom of baking pan. Layer Oreos on top of cookie dough.

Prepare brownie mix according to instructions. Pour brownie mix over Oreos.

Cover baking pan with foil. Bake for 30 minutes. Remove foil, and bake for another 15-20 minutes or until set. Toothpick inserted in center will not come out clean-you want these slightly under-baked and gooey. DO NOT OVER BAKE!

Let brownies cool completely before removing from pan and cutting into bars.

Pros:

-Addicting-ly good
-Easy to make (especially with the brownie mix)
-Great by itself or served warm with ice cream
-Crowd pleaser

Cons:
-Takes a long time to prepare and bake
-Cookie dough layer is somewhat overwhelmed by the Oreos and brownie layer (which makes me think that just making the brownies with Oreos in the middle would be delicious!)
