Names aside, everyone knows how delicious puppy chow (the dessert) is. The classic puppy chow is coated in peanut butter and chocolate, then tossed with powdered sugar. While I love any recipe that calls for peanut butter and chocolate, I thought I would try a new version of this dessert. And because I love anything with confetti cake mix, this seemed like a delicious version to make.
Boy oh boy, this stuff is good. And addictive. Maybe I'll call this "Crack Snack"-describes it perfectly and it rhymes! This "Crack Snack" is loaded with cake batter flavor. When you eat a handful of this "Crack Snack" it almost tastes like you are licking cake batter off of the beaters. The ultimate guilty pleasure. Toss in a few sprinkles and M&Ms for good measure, and you will surely not be able to stop at just one handful. While you might go into a sugar comma from eating this stuff, it will be sooo worth it. Make this "Crack Snack" the next time you need a good sugar rush.
(16 cups)
24 ounces white chocolate chips
2-3 Tbsp milk
1 large box (12 cups) Corn Chex cereal
1 box (3 cups) confetti cake mix
1 cup powdered sugar
optional: 1 bag White Chocolate M&Ms
optional: sprinkles
Place white chocolate chips and milk in the bowl of a double boiler. Add about an inch of water to a pot, heat to simmering, and place bowl with chocolate over simmering water. Stir until chocolate is melted. Add more milk until desired consistency is reached.
While chocolate is melting, add Chex cereal to a large bowl. In another bowl, mix together cake mix and powdered sugar.
Once the white chocolate is melted, pour over Chex cereal. Toss the cereal and chocolate together until all of the cereal is evenly coated. In separate batches (I had to do about 4 batches), add some cereal and some cake mix/powdered sugar mixture to a Tupperware container. Seal container tightly and shake ingredients together. Continue shaking until all of the cereal is coated in the cake mix/powdered sugar mixture. Remove to serving bowl, and continue process until all of the cereal is coated in the cake mix/powdered sugar. Add sprinkles and/or M&Ms to puppy chow.
